
TOWN OF RICHFIELD (WLUK) — Firefighters released dramatic video of a water rescue in central Wisconsin Thursday night.
The Richfield Rural Fire Department says a Wood County parks employee was had gone to North Wood County Park to close the campground gates to prevent vehicles from crossing the Yellow River as it swelled with rainwater. However, his vehicle was swept off the road by the rising waters and he called for help.
A swift water rescue crew rigged specialized rope lines and and launched a life raft. As rescuers reached the man, they gave him a life jacket, got him out of the vehicle and into the raft, and towed him ashore.
In the video, onlookers can be heard cheering as the group makes it to shore.
