
DETROIT – A man was caught with a gun when he drove a stolen go-kart to a Detroit gas station to sell it back to its original owner, officials said.
Donald Wayne Cummings is named in a criminal complaint that was filed July 26, 2024.
Go-kart stolen, posted online
Detroit police said they learned July 18, 2024, that a go-kart had been stolen from a Family Dollar store.
The original owner said an advertisement for the go-kart was posted on Facebook Marketplace by Cummings.
Gas station meet-up
The owner arranged to meet Cummings on July 25 at a Citgo gas station on Wyoming Avenue in Detroit to buy the go-kart for about $2,000.
Detroit police coordinated with the owner and watched the gas station during the meeting.
