Joseph Grier, the man now charged with murder and more than a dozen counts of kidnapping, was hiding inside a Wells Fargo during the Peachtree Center mall shooting just hours earlier, according to reports.
Grier spoke to 11Alive and recounted how he saw a confrontation between the suspect and two women before shots rang out. Three people were shot in that incident.
He also told reporters he was diagnosed with bipolar disorder and has been off his medication for two weeks, adding that he had experienced a manic episode.
Grier said during the interview: “Right now I’m in an extreme mode.”
