SEATTLE — For the third year in a row, Alki Beach and Golden Gardens in Seattle will have reduced summer hours as the city tries to deter violent crime and behavior near the beaches.
According to Seattle Parks and Recreation, from May 24 to Sept. 22, the beaches will be open from 4 a.m. to 10:30 p.m., closing one hour earlier than usual.
The city said the early closing time is part of a pilot program that addresses “dangerous and/or illegal behavior typical of summer evening uses at these two parks.”
During the reduced hours, Seattle Parks and Recreation and Seattle Police Department (SPD) staff will begin closing the beaches at 10 p.m.
