
Cuba will expand its travel routes with Russia in hopes of re-awakening tourism from a post-pandemic slumber.
The Caribbean nation wants to let in about 200,000 Russians this year.
Already, Cuba has welcomed 66,887 Russians between January and March 2024.
That record-high figure far outpaces the 32,224 Russians who visited the country from January to March of last year.
Both countries are working to hike up the number of direct flights after the US tightened its tourism rules against Cuba, which also closed its borders until late 2021 when all its residents were vaccinated, significantly impacting the economy.
