
KENNEBUNKPORT, Maine (WMTW) – A lottery for a three-bedroom house in Maine, priced at just a fraction of its market value, fell flat.
Only six people applied for the chance to call it home, and of those, only half of the applicants met the eligibility requirements.
The lottery winner was randomly chosen from those three.
The discounted home was listed at $326,000 – just a fraction of what most homes cost in Kennebunkport, where the average home is valued at $1.12 million.
The lottery was offered through a program run by Kennebunkport Heritage Housing Trust, which offers affordable homes to working families and seniors.
