
BERLIN, Vt. (WCAX) – Gov. Phil Scott says FEMA is touring Vermont looking at damage from last week’s flooding.
Scott says the damage is significant and FEMA’s assessment of it will determine whether the state meets the threshold for federal support.
They’re looking at nine of Vermont’s northernmost counties, starting with municipal damage first and then homes and personal property next week.
If the threshold is met, the state can make a formal request to the president for disaster aid.
“Regardless of the federal decision, we’ll continue to do what we can to help those impacted rebuild and recover and remove regulatory burdens wherever we can,” said Scott, R-Vermont.
