
After a three week lull in activity, the tropics are creaking awake with the National Hurricane Center highlighting an area that could develop into a tropical cyclone over a yawning area from the Leeward Islands to Florida.
The center is giving the splotch of cloudiness and rising air a 50% chance of becoming a tropical cyclone over the next seven days, and said early Monday that a tropical depression could form mid to late week while the system is anywhere from the northern Leeward Islands to the southeastern Bahamas.
