LYON COUNTY, Iowa (KTIV) – A healthcare provider who specializes in acupuncture was fined after forgetting about a patient with needles inserted into their body.
It may be one of the more unusual cases since Iowa’s original Board of Medical Examiners was founded in 1886.
The state board of medicine says Xiaodong “Dave” Wang inserted the needles into the patient at his office in Rock Rapids, Iowa then left the office and fell asleep at his home.
The patient waited for Wang to come back but eventually took the needles out on his own and called the Lyon County Sheriff’s office for help.
Wang’s website lists offices in Rock Rapids, Sheldon and Luverne, Minnesota.
