Travelers out of Newark Airport are hoping their flights will be on time today.
A reported air traffic controller shortage may be to blame for a weekend of significant delays at EWR.
The National Air Traffic Controllers Association says 12 air traffic controllers who work at the New York Terminal Radar Approach Control, based out of Westbury, New York were relocated to Philly, effective July 28.
The NATCA says they have voiced concerns to the FAA about this move. They think the reassigned airspace will not only fail to address the staffing shortages but will create even more. They claim there are 33 certified professionals overseeing the airspace in question and with this transfer there will only be 24.
