
LAKE OF THE OZARKS, Mo. (KY3)—If you see a creature that looks like a jellyfish or sponge attached to your boat or on your dock, don’t panic. They’re meant to be there. Missouri Department of Conservation officials confirmed that these creatures are called bryozoans.
Executive Director of Lake of the Ozarks Watershed Alliance Donna Swall said she’s seen some bryozoans around Lake of the Ozarks and wants boaters and floaters to know not to harm them.
“They are there digesting different particles and things in the water,” Swall said. “They leave your water much cleaner than when they arrived.”
