
A man was arrested in Providence Tuesday after allegedly stealing a police cruiser.
Police said at 5:45 p.m. an officer on Broad Street saw several three-wheelers driving recklessly.
An officer attempted to pull one of the men over, who was later identified as 34-year-old Ishmael Lee, before the he fled on foot.
According to officials, Lee and the officer then got into a physical struggle.
Police said while Lee was fleeing the scene, a gun fell out of his satchel.
Officers then grabbed the gun and took him into custody.
Lee then jumped into the cruiser and drove for about five blocks, before jumping out of the vehicle.
Officials said they took him into custody near the intersection of Elmwood and Reservoir Avenue.
